Our Needs

STAR Systems is committed to developing affordable access to space, starting with the Hermes Spacecraft. All of the work done to date has been the result of a passionate group of core people working nights and weekends, and then many others who are providing their time and services to us. We also have developed partnerships with several key business, both locally and nationally. Between these efforts, and our successful Kickstarter campaign, we have enough funding to develop a large scale hybrid rocket motor prototype, and possibly do some high speed ground tests with the Hermes prototype. After that, we need about $10,000,000 to start flying paying passengers to space, but we can make it to our next major milestone for as little as $250,000. Simply put, to go any further, we're going to need your help.

So here's a list of things you can do to help us, starting with the easiest things you can do:

  • Spread the Word: Like us on Facebook. We use Facebook to provide timely updates to what we're working on. Tell your friends who are interested in space travel about us and our website. Join our Newsletter following, where we summarize our updates quarterly and discuss interesting suborbital news.
  • Donate to our cause. Every little bit helps.
  • Buy some cool gear from our Shop page.
  • Become a member of the Hermes Pit Crew. Our to-do list is huge, and we have some very specific needs. Your willingness to help us out could save us thousands of dollars we don't need to pay contractors, so we can focus on the important things: building rockets and spacecraft!
  • Fabrication and part acquisition is a large part of our current costs. Raw materials (steel, aluminum, titanium, inconel), tanks and plumbing, aerospace sensors, aircraft equipment, and data acquisition are just a few of our needs. If you can provide us anything at reduced or no cost, we are interested in talking to you.
  • Pass along our information to an Angel Investor, Venture Capitalist, or wealthy uncle. Or, if you are one of those, please let us know. We'd like to talk shop. For the right price, we'll even start calling you uncle.
